Towns in the area
Located approximately six miles west of Comrie is the pretty and tranquil village of St Fillans nestling on the
shores of Loch Earn. It boasts to having one of the best scenic 9-hole golf courses in Scotland where international superstar, Sandy Lyle holds the professional course record. He also lives close-by.
St Fillans also has one of oldest remaining railway station following the closure by Lord Beecham, of the Crieff / Lochearn rail line over 50 years ago. There are magnificent views up Loch Earn. Most of the hotels and guest houses, including the Drummond Arms, Four Seasons and Achray all have moorings on the loch front and are excellent centres for boating and touring.
Loch Earn is the western-most point of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park with sailing, fishing and walking opportunities for beginners and enthusiasts alike. There are roads to the north and south of this beautiful loch leading to the village of Lochearnhead and into Balquhidder, the ancient home of Rob Roy MacGregor and south to the Trossachs.
