Local Shops
Successful towns and villages across the length and breath of Scotland appear to be the ones that are both historically attractive and comfortable to navigate with ample parking facilities.
Crieff easily fits into this category as it with a High Street occupied by a wide variety of independent shops being successful as they compete alongside some national household named retailers.
“There is something in Crieff for everyone, including those who like fashionable and futuristic merchandise,” is how one visitor described her visit to this holiday town which is the boundary between the highlands and lowlands.
Traditionally, Crieff has been the shopping centre for many of the towns and villages in the Strathearn Valley and today is no exception as the town’s population increases 20 percent during any working day, such is the buzz one gets from strolling through the High Street and adjoining King Street.
If you are looking to buy fine Denby china, Goretex clothing, a fine range of organic produce or some oil paintings by local artists, look no further than Crieff as there remains very few products that are not readily offered throughout the retail sector of the town. There is even an art gallery that boasts to offer ‘antiques of the future’, with realistic price tags to boot!
“Every customer is treated with respect and courtesy and if we do not have a particular item in stock, be certain we’ll have it within a few days,” said one prominent Crieff retailer. “Our regular customers enjoy the craic and personal touch when they visit to do their shopping. They even use the day to meet friends and family as they catch up with local news. It is an enjoyable experience to shop until your drop as no two days the same”.
You wouldn't expect supermarkets to reward customers for buying less food or a petrol retailer telling people to drive less, but in Crieff, folk are happy to support their local retailers even if it means buying less in smaller outlets and not driving as far as Perth or Stirling to purchase from larger and often far less personalised supermarkets.
Crieff, and its unique selection of outlets remains a great shopping experience.
